TORONTO, Ontario (November 6th, 2023) – When you want to be ready for anything, the Toyota 4Runner is ready for you. The 2024 edition of the legendary 4Runner mid-size SUV seamlessly blends rugged 4×4 capability with a refined interior, and is the perfect go-anywhere partner to power your adventures.
“Today’s 4Runner expresses the best of the name’s 40-plus years of delivering awesome, go-anywhere capability, plus all the modern comfort, versatility, and amenities that Canadians love,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Always authentic, the 4Runner is packed with power, performance, handling, and safety – making it an outstanding SUV with a ready-for-anything attitude.”
As a fully-capable SUV, the 4Runner story starts with its heavy-duty, body-on-frame construction and go-anywhere powertrain. Every 4Runner features a 4.0L V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic and four-wheel-drive. This configuration generates a peak 270 hp and up to 278 lb-ft of torque, plus a 2,268 kg (5,000 lb) towing capacity.
The 4Runner expresses its heritage through its rugged body styling. From the running boards to the roof rails, this is the SUV that enables adventure. For 2024, Toyota introduces a number of fresh body colour options – including Underground for all models, Terra for the TRD Pro, Solar Octane for the TRD Off Road, and Wind Chill Pearl for the Limited.
Open the doors, and enter a spacious interior that’s comfortable and refined. Front row seats are large and supportive, while commonly-used controls are easy to operate even while wearing gloves. The second row seats recline up to 16 degrees for optimal comfort and include a one-touch fold-down feature to easily open up cargo space. Seven-passenger models feature split-folding third-row seats. Dual-zone air conditioning is standard, making it easier to create the ideal cabin temperature.
Each model grade expresses its unique personality. For example, the urban-savvy TRD Sport grade elevates ride comfort with a suspension system that enhances control in curves, plus several sophisticated styling cues – while the TRD Pro grade draws on Toyota Racing Development’s 35-year history of success in extreme off-road racing to engineer a 4Runner ready to tame even the most challenging terrain.
Every 4Runner comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense P – a suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, a tire pressure warning system, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and anti-theft system with engine immobilizer.
This year, Canadians can choose from five grades as follows:
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner SR5 introduces Canadians to the legendary 4Runner experience. This three-row, seven-passenger model features on-demand 4WD, 17” alloy wheels, a power moon roof, LED fog lamps with black bezel, a Display Audio system with 8” screen, Connected Services by Toyota Audio Plus with Remote (including Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect), heated steering wheel, power-adjustable and heated front row seats, Softex upholstery, and the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport blends SUV capability with urban style. Built on the SR5 grade but with a two-row, five-passenger cabin, this model’s enhancements include a hood scoop, upgraded front and rear bumper designs, black painted roof rails, 20” alloy wheels, TRD shift knob, TRD head rests, the x-REAS sport suspension system, and the Panoramic View Monitor.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner Limited is a showcase of comfort, premium features, and technology. This three-row, seven-passenger model builds on the SR5, adding a full-time 4WD powertrain, the x-REAS sport suspension system, Limited-grade 20” alloy wheels, LED fog lamps with chrome bezel, a 15-speaker JBL Audio system with subwoofer, Connected Services by Toyota Premium Audio (including Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, Embedded Navigation with embedded traffic and weather, and Destination Assist Connect), heated and ventilated front row seats, a driver’s seat memory system, leather upholstery, the Panoramic View Monitor, and front and rear clearance sonar systems.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road is a rugged midsize SUV that really shines where the pavement ends. This model features a two-row, five-passenger cabin plus several enhancements over the SR5 grade, including the Multi-Terrain Select system, Crawl Control, the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, the Panoramic View and Multi-Terrain Monitor systems, a hood scoop, a rear differential lock, unique 17” alloy wheels, Connected Services by Toyota Premium Audio (including Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, Embedded Navigation with embedded traffic and weather, and Destination Assist Connect), and TRD Off Road badging.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro is an ultimate go-anywhere SUV.
